Good Morning July
I haven't been here for a week as holiday and a passing on of one of my favorite folk occured. This lady was great at healthy living and inspired me to get even more sugar and processed food out of my life.
In my dreams I self publish a scrapbook of her recipes and great emails-another goal!
Butter & Eggs! Isn't that the greatest name for a flower?
My hosta is beautifully untouched this year as the rain has made God's Little Acre like a tropical island. Deer and all varmits seem to have plenty to eat.
My July apples are almost ready which means I am going to have my week-end guest spot me as I put up the tall ladder, they need thinning desperately and there are two foot shooters on all the fruit trees. The pear-apple graft is my size and done. It actually got hot and clear in the Poconos for a day so I painted the garage door instead of finishing corn weeding. Hoping to get back after 4:30 but the raspberries needed to be picked, getting a quart a day. Also, one harvest of the gooseberries which I bagged in the freezer for my husband who loves them. He is currently in rehearsal for a production of "The Tempest". We are both too tired at night to do anything but text. I did have an opportunity to send a photograph of what I believe was a Northern Water Snake, over 4' long and hugely wide, I almost ran over it on my bicycle. Whoo!
Speaking of larger creatures, my husband didn't warn me that the raccoon that he fought off in the kitchen as it tried to back out the screen door with a bag of our cat food it had opened a tin to grab, was as big as a bear cub!!! My cats and I were fenced in the garden ready to call my neighbor as it circled the house. One of my poor cats was terrified, "OMG, look at that raccoon trying to steal that healthy, diet cat food, huh....that sure was close".
However it is July and that is an all month celebration here and firecrackers sent him packing...for a while.
The golden raspberries are also ripe and two blueberry bushes are snacks for me as I weed whack.
It's Be nice to a Cashier Day.
