"I Don't Do Chat" from-The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a 2003 novel by British writer
Mark Haddon. It won the 2003 Whitbread Book of the Year.
  Great book.
Reading, "Old Christmas" Washington Irving coupled with the fabulous Coldicott illustrations.   This book is 40 years old and discarded from a library yet I had to cut many pages revealing one of the 100 illustrations.
Sitting by the fire munching stag horn yellow beans.
Wrapping up the corn husks today to keep the pumpkin company.
Raspberries are back but taste as if they have been through a frost.   The banana peppers are still blooming little white flowers as are the beans.    Tomatoes also show yellow flowers again and the forcythia is shooting new green.
Garlic looking wonderful and some bulbs nearly store bought size.    Marigolds and dark red geraniums are blooming from other year plantings.
Going down river again just so I won't forget my training and biking daily in preparation for 11 hour ski days on week-ends.   Our first meeting is this month but my friend and I already ran into my rafting coach and locker room friend on a Segway with his daughter who was less than thrilled.
He is a looker who loves to be in shorts and no shirt in the summer.   I am a woman of a certain age who would rather be covered from head to toe and have youngsters flirt with me.   My husband and I bused for years from NYC to Bellayre in the Catskills dreaming of a time when we might possibly have a postage stamp of a garden.
To each other we have always been perfect.   Perfect in the way of unsprayed fruit.   Give us the birds and the bees and the books.
